LAB Chesapeake Lighthouses

Tatatataaaaa… To the sound of fifes and drums we proudly present: the first LAB (LocalAreaBadge) in the U.S.! A short message on Facebook in the Flagstack USA group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/946578765408502/) started the ball rolling. The same day we received the first really great proposals. And now the big day has finally arrived - we are publishing the LAB "Chesapeake lighthouses" by DudleyGrunt.

Now you can find 17 lighthouse icons round the largest estuary of the USA, the Chesapeake Bay, on the FLAGSTACK map. Discover one of the most important natural landscapes of North America and collect at least 14 of the 17 special icons to receive the amazing badge with 1,400 extra points.

There are beautiful landscapes or special buildings in your surroundings, that deserve to reach global renown with a LAB? Bring it on and send your proposals to lab@flagstack.net, we can make a big deal about it in common!

DE-LAB: The Graduation house tour

Do you want to discover something new that is actually quite old? Something that exists in many places in Germany, that is totally healthy, and is still barely known? Then check out our latest LAB (Local Area Badge): the graduation house tour! The graduation house tour leads you to places where you can find so-called graduation houses for salt extraction from brine using wooden scaffolding and fagots. Salt extraction itself has no purpose at the present time. Recreational and health aspects have been retained at the different locations. For example, asthmatics appreciate briny air and many clinics have settled in the vicinity of the scaffoldings, that are mostly found in health resorts.

You have to collect a minimum of 15 graduation house-icons (20 in total) to receive this special badge together with 1,500 extra points. Thanks to DocBrown13 who had the idea for this LAB, we love to support ideas like that. And again thanks to DocBrown13 for collecting all the information. Now it depends on you - have fun enjoying the fresh air...!

Nachtrag 25.

Lighthouses between Weser and Elbe

Along the North Sea coastline.... a new challenge is waiting for you! Starting today, you can find 32 lighthouses, that we have summarized to a LAB (Local Area badge) for you! GrafZahl75 had the idea - and we have the capabilities. The lighthouses extend from southern Bremerhaven to a little east of Cuxhaven. One is on the island Neuwerk and reachable only via mudflat hiking, boat or carriage ride - another one with just a little walk at low tide. All lighthouses are reachable over public roads. Collect 25 of 32 lighthouses and you will get the amazing badge. If you have collected all lighthouses, you can earn more than 4,000 points at all. The lighthouses will light your way in the dark, why don’t you deploy some Night Flags over there?

You also have such a great idea for your region? Then just write an email : info@flagstack.net

And for now, “nich lang schnacken“ (Low-German: stop talking) - Capture the flag...

Celebration continues

Celebration continues at our jubilee month - there are brand new features on our website to discover!

Right at the top of the deploy list you can find a pull-down menu of various options for sorting. What is your flag most found? Where did you deploy your first flags? Finally you can answer these questions to yourself and your friends...

At your deploy list you can find a replacement icon for green flags next to the known editing icon. At the displayed pull-down menu you can see the kind of flag types of your inventory incl. the number of your undeployed flags. Look at the graphical instructions and try the function directly... If it's easier for you to select a green flag at a specific location, you can select, edit and replace your green flags by using the map!

Click in your profile here: "Deploys"

Now you can see the new feature: sorting your deployed flags.

You can find the replacement button for green flags.

When you click on it, the following window will open ....

... and you can choose, by which of your inventory flags you want to replace this green flag…

...by clicking on "Save" the flag will be replaced...

...and the replaced green flag can now be found in your archive.

Have fun with the new features!

One year ago…!

The time flies by and now the day has come: We are online for one year! One year ago to the day, all got started with a single flag. Without you we could not have managed all this!

Since then we have built a great thing together. And we think this need to be celebrated four times!

1.
You will find a present "Flagstack 1st Birthday Special" in your inventory - once you’ll deploy this special flag, 12 cupcakes will be deployed within 1000 meters around your current GPS position. If you have captured at least 8 cupcakes, you will receive our exclusive "Happy Birthday Badge 2016". You are the only one who can see your cupcakes. The cupcakes will disappear from the map on 31.July 2016 at 23:59 (Timezone Europe / Berlin), if you were not able to capture them.

2.
From now on the Adventure Flag is available! By deploying the Adventure Flag, you will place out one flag that is visible for everyone. In radius of 500 meters, 10 more hidden flags will automatically be deployed. They will become visible on the map when you are close enough - about 100 meters.

Here are the facts:

One-time Deploy points for the owner: 100 points

Capture points for the player: 78-248 points *
Capture On points for the owner: 68-98 points *
* = (Optimum that he has found all 10 + 1 flags)

Distance to own flags: 99 m
Distance to other flags: 33 m
Deployed flags: 6x Green Flags and 5x Oracle Flags
Minimum Level: 25

This flag has a special feature: it can be deployed via the app and later on the website!

3.

You're more active at night? The last night hike has been several years ago? You will especially like the new Night flag! Because the Night flag can be captured only after sunset...

Here are the facts:

One-time Deploy points for the owner: 16 points
Capture points for the player: 16 points
Capture On points for the owner: 8 points

Distance to own flags: 99 m
Distance to other flags: 33 m

Visibility on the map: by day dimmed (pale) and at night full colored with an effect lighting

Special feature: The Night Flag can be captured from local sunset until local sunrise, and it can be deployed around the clock via the app and later on the website. Where will the first Night trail be located? We cannot wait to know...

4.
Communication is essential. For this reason, we decided to make instant messaging available to all players. From now and even without a premium membership, you can ask for a friend request, write messages via the app and plan the next activities together with players.

At today's great day we want to thank you, because you have made FLAGSTACK to what it is today and what it will be tomorrow. Here's to the next years!

PS: The aforementioned new flag types are exclusively available at the webshop .

A review, of whether the road is in a secure area or how good the mobile reception is, cannot be done. It will happen in some cases, that Birthday Specials are unreachable. Therefore, there is no legal claim to be able to collect all the Birthday Specials.
